Generous double fish in their suppers. Chip portion could be a bit bigger but that's probably pure greed on my part. Batter is gorgeous, chips are perfection. Nothing too greasy. Like the Sun used to be in the good old days.
In my opinion one of the better fish and chip shops in the area. Clean and well laid out with a small area at the front of the shop for take away and a sit in area at the rear. Plenty of staff on duty at the time of my visit. A small council operated car park at the rear and more parking adjacent to the river. Wheelchair accessible. I had a takeaway so I have no comment to make on the facilities in the dining part. Staff efficient and friendly. Fairly quick service for items that already had been cooked. A short wait for special orders whilst they were cooked. The food was hot and tasty with good portions at reasonable prices.
I never leave reviews but feel like I have to. I have just finished a large fish supper. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a takeaway this much. I usually leave the batter and just eat the fish but not this time, batter was delicious, the flakes of fish meat were so thick and meaty amazing quality of fish. Chips were also amazing, cooked to perfection, and you weren't given too much or too little but just the right amount. Number is definitely getting stored in my contacts. I'm originally from Glasgow and now live on the Isle Of Skye and really miss a good chippy, I've just drove down from Skye and found Andy's Golden Fry and the food is top notch chippy food. Batter on the sausage perfect the chips perfect and aye ano it's being greedy but I even had the Steak pie and it's cooked to perfection
By far the best chips from a chip shop that we've ever had!! They weren't in the slightest bit greasy. They were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Absolutely perfect!! Unfortunately all we purchased was a large portion of chips to go with our packed lunch. We were visiting Dumbarton for a wee day out. Certainly when we visit again we'll be sure to go to Andy's Golden Fry and perhaps try some Special Fish Suppers. Keep up the great work guys, very well done!
Brilliant chip shop, very clean with a one way system in place and staff were efficient. The best fish supper ever!!! The supper came in a cardboard takeaway box and the portion sizes were decent. The fish was fresh with a light and crisp batter. The chips were proper chippy chips and were crisp and clean tasting, not greasy or soggy at all. Would definitely return again. Good value for money and absolutely delicious!
